Mississippi Avenue is North Portland's answer to Alberta Street — a walkable commercial corridor lined with independent restaurants, bars, coffee houses, and shops that has been one of Portland's most celebrated neighborhoods for two decades. The Boise neighborhood that surrounds it is a mix of craftsman bungalows and Victorian cottages on tree-lined streets, many of them lovingly restored.

The neighborhood has gentrified significantly, which has brought investment and new businesses but also changed the character of the community. The history is important context. What remains is a genuinely excellent neighborhood with strong walkability, great food and drink, and housing stock that holds its value.

Mississippi attracts buyers who want North Portland's more relaxed energy with excellent walkability and a strong food and drink scene. It's slightly more affordable than the most sought-after SE neighborhoods, which makes it attractive to buyers who've been priced out of Hawthorne or Alberta.
